First Day of School Veteran

This is my 12th year of schooling. 13 if you count kindegarten. You'd think that I'd be pro by now. Or at least getting the hang of it, but oh no. Let's just say. . .I'm counting down the days to graduation, when I can leave this school of mine and the memories of the first day behind.

Yes. It was that bad.
My senior survival kit is currenty in the making. . .

At 7:00 a.m. on the dot, the lovely jingling sound stirs me from my delightful slumber. And, I, ever so happily, jumped out of bed with pure excitetment ready to embark on this day's journey. Ok. Mabye not. The jingling sound of pure annoyance did go off at 7:00, however, I didn't jump out of bed until. . . . 7:45. And it was not ever so happily jumping either. More like the words "Panic" are flashing on the screen of my brain, as I realized ever so harshly that I had 15 minutes to get ready. 15 minutes. In history class that may seem like a long time. Or if an elephant is sitting on you, 15 minutes may feel like an eternity. But 15 minutes to look absolutely completely flawless for my first day of school is, well, the dang opposite of eternity. Somehow I managed to throw on something other than my pajamas, run my fingers through my hair a few times and off I sped in my little car "Lulu."

As soon as I arrived at The Prison, I realized exactly why I love summer so much. I don't have to see all these (silly, stupid, dumb, mean, your choice of words) people. For 2 1/2 months. Those 2 1/2 months are pure paradise. Yeah, I used to think that only in movies people looked you up and down, then gave you that famous disgusted look and walked away. Um. That's till the reality of high school set in.

The first bell rang (I've come to dislike that sound. A lot). So I attempted to make my way to Honors Chemistry. There was one little problemo. I did not know where the chemistry room was. Even after 3 years of walking these halls. So. I was late. And that's not where it ended. The trend continued. All day long. In every class. Tardy, Tardy, Tardy. Apparently I need a GPS.

And let's not forget the girl who was wearing the same shirt I was. Who was also in 3 of my classes. Enough said.

Oh, have I mentioned the Popular-ites yet? Dislike times ten. I have recently complied a list of what it takes to be considered a Popularite. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Walk the Walk. (nose in the air. butt out. while imagining a crown on your head because you basically pretend like you rule the school.)
  • Must be on at least one of the following: cheer, drill team, student council, football, baseball, basketball.
  • Dress the Part. Must have a complete shelf (minimum 4 ft long. 3 ft high) of $250 jeans.
  • You are right. Everyone else is wrong.
  • You're superior. To everyone.
  • Break the Hearts. New bf/gf every 2 weeks. It's all about the ABC game.

And heavens, lets not forget about the boys. The new exchange students are quite pleasing to the eye. And their accents are most pleasing to the ears. However, I've already burned the bridge on that one when I spilled rootbeer all over the table at lunch. And me. And the gorgeous men sitting next to me. Their accents are still hot when they're mad however.

Total count for the day: 40 pages of reading for ap pysch (seriously), 3 pages of Chemistry, 5 encounters with Popularites even after skillfully trying to avoid them, 4 times tripping in the hallway and in front of a cute guy of course, 8 papers to be signed by the parentals, 10 awkard conversations, two quizzes next time, 4 glares, 3 half compliments/half disses, 8 tardies, 4 stained shirts, and 10000 stray hairs that stick straight up.

A winner of a day.

The rest of the week was filled with. . .oh yeah, homework.

So today, I am

TGIF baby!

and off to buy chocolate, tissues, chocolate, ben and jerry's icecream, and probably some more chocolate. for my survival kit of course.

Judgement Day

The day every 17 year old girl fears.

When every hair must be perfectly in place.
Earrings must dangle precisely.
Shoes must match to a tee.
And every article of clothing is planned out weeks in advance.

The first day of school.

It's all about making that first impression.
The impression that is critical to your social status for the rest of the year.
This could make you or break you.

Which is why I sit here. In my plaid polka dot pajamas.
On my closet floor. Surrounded by every piece of clothing I own.
Fretting over things that will one day be of such little importance.
But are imperative to my life at the moment.

Tomorrow is my last first day of highschool.
Yes. I'm a senior.

Thank heavens it's almost over.

Because now it's back to the popular-ites,
the dumb yet oh so gorgeous boys,
and the perils of school.
I'm not so sure I'm ready for the crazy,
and heaven knows dramatic,
days at my dear ol' school.

But as my parents keep telling me: I have no choice.
Bascially I'm being forced against my own free will.

(imagine a schrinched up "i rather eat dog food than go to school" face. yes. that's what i look like right now.)

Despite my whining and complaining,
My alarm is set for way too early.
My pencils are sharpened.
There are even batteries in my calculator.

180 more days.
Only 180 days.
Wish me luck!! (groan)

-Miss Addie.

P.S. any suggestions on what I should wear!?
